The new energy label for LED Lighting

Since September 2021, LED lighting has a new energy label. The energy efficiency of lighting has changed. Here is the details:

The new energy label for LED Lighting

Why a new energy label?

The will to manufacture and sell energy efficient lighting has increased enormously in recent years. This has ensured that the old energy labels no longer meet the current energy efficiency of most lighting. For a long time, this problem was solved by designations such as A+, A++ and even A+++. Subsequently, there have even been products on the market with an indication of A+++ 50%. This meant that the product was 50% more energy efficient than a normal A+++ product. You understand that this only made it more unclear. Fortunately, there is now a solution for this!

What does the new energy label for LED lighting look like?

The old energy label usually had the energy efficiency indications E to A++ or even A+++. The new energy label starts at the beginning again with the designations G to A.
It is possible that a LED spotlight that previously had an A++ rating has an energy efficiency G or F with this new regulation. Is the same LED spotlight then less energy-efficient? The answer is: No! This change has nothing to do with the actual energy efficiency of the spot or lamp.

The new energy labels will have a QR code. When you scan this QR code, you will be directed to the official European website, where you can find more information about the product.

Shops and webshops are allowed to sell lighting with the old energy label until 1 March 2023. This is because it is expensive and a lot of work to change the energy labels of all lighting.

We are working hard to provide all our lighting with the new energy label. In our webshop you will find the old and new energy classification in the specifications of each product. So you know exactly which new energy efficiency our lighting has.
